1962 Dodge Power Giant 7-71 BV

Dodge Australia marketed 17 truck models in 1962, ranging from one ton to ten ton, over eleven different wheel bases, and powered from a stable of three petrol engines - a 250 cubed sidevalve six for the smaller end of the range, followed by the 313 V8, and the 360 V8 for the ten ton model. 

Back in the late 1950’s, Bill Aitken’s work day began at 7.30am, driving around, picking up full milk cans  from the dairy farming community of Drouin, Victoria. He would start off with a tray-full of already loaded empty cans, belonging to the various farms from the run the night before. As he rumbled down the main street, he would stop at the baker and the butcher, picking up bread and meat parcels to deliver to the various farmers along the way, while dropping off their empty cans. He sometimes would even collect a new tractor part for another farmer, all the while distributing newspapers from the pile on the front passenger seat.

His route of deliveries and pick ups would usually total over 100, not incl
