It was August, 1996, and we had reached the ‘Acacia Line’, where we normally exited from the desert on our trips. From here, our usual route was 300 kilometres west to Nita Downs and the North West Coastal Highway (NWCH). 

An alternate route was north along the Seismic Line for 130 kilometres to Nerrima Station then head west via Luluigui, Dampier Downs to Roebuck Plains, and the NWCH. Not having travelled this way before, we chose the latter, arriving at Nerrima the next morning in time for ‘smoko’.
