On 14th February 1912, a Dennis lorry left the UK and arrived in Port Adelaide to take up work delivering wine for a wine and spirit merchant. After a stint carting wheat and wool, the truck would be abandoned under a Mallee tree until it was rescued by Albert Pech in 1956 to start its long journey to restoration, culminating being driven down the main street of Loxton in 2012.
As South Australia entered the 20th century, and motor vehicles started to appear, the state began to embrace their use.
