The AEC Mogul and 8-wheeler Majestic are rarities, and these once belonged to a well-known haulage outfit, H&R Bell, operating out of Meekatharra, in outback Western Australia, from the 1940s through to the 1970s. H&R Bell were outback mail contractors, wool and livestock transporters, fuel distributors, and general carriers to and from the then rail head at Meekatharra. The district in those days, was a major sheep and wool producer.
In 1968 I was working as a teenager on a 1,000,000 acre (423,000 Hectare) Pastoral Lease Station running 45,000 sheep, 2,000 cattle and 300 horses, about 70kms out of Meekatharra, W.A. That particular year the property turned out approx 1,500 bales of
wool all of which H&R Haulage Contractors carted.
