As Leyland didn’t build tow wagons of this type, you can tell at a glance that this 1949 Leyland Tiger OPS4 half cab tow wagon has an interesting history, The Tiger was a passenger bus, not a bus tow vehicle. The owner, David Churn of Perth, was only too happy to share the history of his unusual vehicle.
David is the president of the West Australian Omnibus Owners Group, and is involved with four other heritage buses, in addition to this one. His tow wagon has undergone some significant changes during its long and colourful history. The chassis and running gear were built by Leyland, in Britain, in 1949, and shipped to Australia as one of thirty buses destined for Melbourne.
