Questions on BMC
1 min read

Here is a photo of my BMC and Dodge trucks in the back yard of my parent’s home at Northmead in western Sydney. I owned the BMC truck from about 1976 until 1978. In standard specifications, it had a five speed gearbox and a six cylinder diesel motor.  The exhaust was situated under the front bumper with exhaust pointed out to the driver’s side.  I was young and learning and, in time, I updated the motor and gearbox from the original with a 3 cylinder supercharged UD motor and 510 Eaton Roadranger gearbox. The BMC also had a two speed rear axle, so I had a lot of forward gears and four reverse gears. With the supercharger sucking in air from a huge air box situated at the rear of the cabin and a 2.5 inch exhaust stack, this thing made some sweet noise at 60mph going down the Hume Highway to Canberra and back.
