My 1964 Mack B61: 237 Thermodyne engine with quad box Walkaround
1 min read

I'm Glen Oram, a tilt tray operator from Kempsey. This is my1964 B61 Mack Truck, equipped with a sturdy 237 Thermodyne engine and a quad box. This truck isn't just any vintage piece, it's an honest, hardworking classic truck that's seen its fair share of the open road. As a bloke who's been around trucks his whole life, I've always had a special place in my heart for the sleek lines of the B model, with a fondness that began during my time driving an old B model tow truck for Banana Coast towing at Halfway Creek. My love for tilt trays isn't new either; I've been into them for as long as I can remember. This 1964 Mack Truck wasn't just sitting pretty before it became part of my collection. Back in 2018, a tough old guy was still putting it to good use, hauling cable and carting grain near a little place called Garah in NSW, not too far from Moree. I took over as the proud owner just a year later, purchasing it in 2019 in pretty much the same condition it's in now. Since then, I've given it a bit of TLC, rewiring some bits and sorting out a few fuel issues, but for the most part, I've kept it just the way it is. Last time off the working class wall, we even had the original New South Wales rego plates on it, though it was out of rego when it came into my possession. Now, it proudly sports historic plates as a testament to its enduring legacy. So join me for a spin in my favourite play toy, the classic 1964 B61 Mack Truck. Let's take a nostalgic journey into the world of vintage trucks and tilt trays. I hope you love it as much as I do! Stay tuned for more.
